ZamPen’s pride wins 2nd place in National Organic Agriculture Quiz Bee

Reynaldo Mira, a third-year agriculture student from J.H. Cerilles State College located in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur was an inch close to winning the grand prize in the recently concluded National Organic Agriculture Quiz Bee held on November 13 to 15, 2024 at the Axia Hotel in Quezon City.
Dubbed as the national Kabataang OA quiz challenge, this event brought together 15 regional quiz bee champions from Agricultural Training Institute regional centers across the country to compete in organic agriculture.
The event was conducted in partnership with the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and its collaborators namely, the DA-National Organic Agriculture Program, Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI).
This year’s Kabataang OA quiz challenge carried the theme ‘Kinabuhayang OA, Kinabukasang OK: PGS Pinalakas para sa Bagong Pilipinas,’ as part of the tenth organic agriculture month celebration.

ZamPen’s bet displayed exceptional skill and determination, advancing through a clincher round to secure his spot as the second highest scorer. Mira was guided by his dedicated coach, Dr. Emelyn Tormes, and supported by Engr. Norhani A. Hindawi, ATI-9 technical staff.
The second placer shared his gratitude for the experience through a facebook post he posted after winning the competition.
“Thank you so much everyone for your warm congratulations. It was truly an honor to represent our school and region in the National Kabataang OA Quiz Bee. I almost became the champion, but I fell short by one step. Still, securing second place is something I’m very proud of, and I couldn’t have done it without the encouragement and support from everyone. I’m very thankful to my coach, Ms. Emelyn D. Tormes, who believed in me and motivated me throughout this journey. I also want to thank my family and friends for their huge support in this achievement," Mira shared.
