Republic Act No. 10912 known as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) was implemented by the Government of the Philippines that took effect last August 16, 2016, which is a mandatory requirement for the renewal of the Professional Identification Card (PIC). Through this, the professionals will gain more competence, enhance their knowledge and skills about modernization, scientific and technical advancement of their profession.
The Agricultural Training Institute – Region Training Center IX (ATI-RTC IX) as an extension agency that serves as the capacity builder, knowledge bank, and catalyst of the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System, aims to register more than 20 trainings for CPD accreditation for this year.
For the first quarter, under the regular program, six (6) batches of Training on Extension Delivery System (EDS) were accredited with 23 CPD points per batch. In HVCD Program, two (2) batches of Training of Trainers (TOT) on Cacao Production and Processing were accredited with 27 CPD points per batch; one (1) batch of Training of Trainers (TOT) on Rubber Production (Rubber Tapping) was accredited with 25 CPD points; and one (1) batch of Training of Trainers (TOT) on Banana Production and Processing was accredited with nine (9) CPD points.
The extension workers who attended the said trainings were thankful for the opportunity and for the CPD points they earned since most of them have an expired PIC.
Indeed, the CPD program plays a significant role in the professionals to be more committed to the enhancement of their personal skills and proficiency throughout their careers.
