In culmination for the Farmers and Fisherfolks Month 2022, ATI Nueve visited Francisco P. Consolacion National Highschool in Barangay Macasing, Pagadian City last May 30, 2022.

50 graduating senior high students under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track participated during the one-day activity. HVCDP Focal Person, Mr. Julito Cordova discussed Urban Gardening and its benefits and application to their school garden, while Ms. Belly Joy Villazorda, ISS Chief, gave a briefing on ATI’s e-extension program where they can pursue free trainings through e-learning.

Acting Asst. Center Director Dr. Gerry R. Pagarigan encouraged the students to pursue Agriculture and its related fields in their further studies. He said, “the youth is the future of the nation, there are only few young people practicing agriculture and our farmers are already old. I hope one of you will step up to fill in the needed workforce to help feed our country.”

To show support to the school’s Gulayan sa Paaralan, ATI Nueve gave seeds and learning materials which was received by Ms. Teresita Algarme in behalf of School Principal Mr. Japeth Moncion.

The month of May was declared as the Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month, through Presidential Proclamation No. 33, in honor of the contribution of farmers and fisherfolk to the growth and development of the local agriculture sector. This year’s theme is “Modernisasyon at Industriyalisasyon tungo sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita”
