To help the fathers of farm families manage their fruit tree production better, the ATI-RTC-CAR conducted a training entitled “Empowering Farmers: "Practical Training on Fruit Tree Propagation and Production Management for the Fathers of Farm Families" held on May 28-30, 2025.
The activity provided the participants with knowledge and skills on fruit tree propagation, production management, and the art of Bonsai making. Topics on propagation techniques include direct seeding, grafting, marcotting and budding.
Mr. Erio L. Tinoyan, the Magsasaka Siyentista from Tuba, Benguet shared his practical experiences and techniques on fruit tree propagation. He underscored the advantages of a grafting method, such as resistance to diseases and pests, improved growth and yield, dwarfing/size control, adaptation to soil and climate, and accelerates fruiting/flowering.
After which, the group proceeded to Tinoyan’s Farm located in Tuba, Benguet for the practicum.
During the closing ceremony, Mr. Martin O. Omeccas of Tabuk City, Kalinga shared that he would encourage his fellow farmers to dedicate time to attend similar programs, as these trainings equip him with new knowledge and practical skills that can enhance his farming practices. Through simple yet impactful actions like planting fruit trees, he can also contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change.
