ATI continues to strengthen the competitiveness and capacities of the agri-fishery extension sector and ensure that farmers and fishers can maximize the services designed to uplift their condition. The Institute manages and develops initiatives to support the professionalization of agricultural extension workers (AEWs) by providing degree and non-degree scholarships.

  • Degree Programs - under the Degree programs, four- or five-year undergraduate courses (BS Degree) are offered to encourage the youth to pursue studies and professional career in agriculture, and/or venture in agripreneurship. This also include graduate courses (MS and PhD) to upgrade the quality, ensure the sustainability, and promote global competitiveness of the AEWs, at all levels, in agriculture and fisheries education.
  • Non-Degree Programs - these programs are non-academic which may include customized and client-specific short courses as well as international training, conferences, symposia, and seminars related to agriculture and fisheries extension Training and Development.
  • Thesis/Dissertation Assistance - this type of assistance is given to students who are pursuing postgraduate studies, either MS or PhD Degree, and are in need of financial support to conduct their required thesis or dissertation.
  • Educational/Field Visit Assistance - relevant assistance covers a maximum number of 30 participants in a group. It involves a cost-sharing scheme where ATI shoulders the food and accommodation expenses of participants, and the proponents covers their transportation expenses/allowance, including entrance fees if applicable.

Apart from the AEWs, the Institute supports initiatives for the Filipino youth.  As such,  ATI offers local and international programs to provide opportunities for young Filipino farmer-leaders to acquire advanced skills and knowledge on up-to-date agricultural technologies.

  • YIPOA - is a partnership program between the Department of Agriculture (DA),  the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP), and the ATI. The program is a 21 month internship program meant to attract the youth in organic agriculture. It consists of: a) nine (9)-month on-farm internship with the chosen farm partner whose operation matches the proposed organic enterprise of the intern, and b) a 12-month enterprise implementation.    Unlike other scholarship programs that only provide financial support, the program provides start-up support and mentoring for the implementation of its business plan and also to empower the youth to become organic agri-preneurs.

For International program, the ATI currently implements two international exchange programs: Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan (YFFLTPJ) and the Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program in Taiwan (FYFIP).

  • YFFLTP in Japan - is a commitment of the Japanese government to the ASEAN regions through the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC) and the Japan Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). To ensure the program’s continuity and sustainability, the management of the program was turned over to ATI last September 25, 2014 to be part of its regular activities under the 4-H Club Program and Rural-Based Organizations.
  • FYFIP in Taiwan - is a partnership between Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO), through a Memorandum of Understanding. The partnership aims to enhance existing relations through the implementation of an internship program for qualified young Filipino farmers. It entails the acquisition of skills and knowledge through the exchange of modern agricultural and fisheries techniques, marketing strategies and mechanisms, cooperative management and enhancement of competencies, discipline and values.
