IRRI Headquarters, Laguna- The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) took part in the Drones4Rice Updating, Planning, and Year 2 Inception Workshop held on October 8–9, 2025, at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna.
Organized by IRRI and the Philippine Rice Research Institute, the workshop gathered key partners and stakeholders to further refine and expand the use of drone technologies in rice farming. It forms part of the continuing efforts to develop standardized drone application protocols for rice research and production.
The two-day activity featured collaborative sessions focused on conducting a literature review of current drone-based agricultural practices, engaging with regulatory agencies and sectoral stakeholders; and carrying out field validation activities to ensure practical application of drone technologies. Key areas of discussion also included the use of drone imagery for nutrient monitoring, assessment of social and environmental impacts, and the development of training modules on safe and effective drone operation.
Through this partnership, ATI reinforces its commitment to promoting digital and precision agriculture innovations that enhance productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in the country’s rice sector.
