The Department of Agriculture’s Extension Support, Education, and Training Technical Management Team (DA ESET-TMT) held its FY 2025 Midyear Performance Review last August 26–29, at the Rural Development Education Center (RDEC), ATI Compound, Diliman, Quezon City.
Conducted in a blended format, the four-day activity brought together 55 representatives from the DA’s bureaus, attached agencies, and corporations. It served as a platform for agencies to present their physical and financial accomplishments for the first semester, share best practices, and align strategies for the remainder of the year.
Furthermore, it emphasized the critical role of extension in ensuring that programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) remain consistent with the Department’s overall strategic goals. The discussions also tackled the formulation of indicative banner thrusts and priorities for FY 2027, laying the groundwork for the preparation of the Department’s Plans and Budget Proposals.
“We will continue to carry out what is expected of us—to harmonize extension. The issuance of Special Order 1772 on clustering by function is crucial, as it will serve as a key mechanism to ensure coherence and alignment of extension efforts across the DA,” ATI Director Engr. Remelyn R. Recoter shared.
Best practices highlighted during the presentations included farmer-centered training, hands-on demonstrations, peer-to-peer learning, and the use of digital tools and climate-smart practices. At the same time, participants underscored the need for clearer classification of activities, consistent reporting standards, stronger monitoring and evaluation systems, and closer inter-agency coordination to prevent duplication and enhance impact.
The midyear review reaffirmed the commitment of DA ESET-TMT member agencies to work collaboratively in delivering effective and coordinated extension services that benefit farmers, fishers, and other stakeholders nationwide. ###
