QUEZON CITY, Manila— Reinforcing its commitment to strengthening agricultural knowledge and empowering future professionals, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), in partnership with Mindanao State University (MSU) – General Santos City, conducted a one-day Briefing on ATI Programs and Animal Industry Situationer.
The activity aims to update students, faculty members, and academic personnel in a valuable platform for learning, knowledge exchange, and increased awareness of ATI’s programs, services, and initiatives.
The briefing also enhanced participants’ understanding of current trends, challenges, and opportunities within the livestock sector.
A key highlight of the event was the insightful discussion delivered by Dr. Ruth S. Miclat-Sonaco, Center Director of the ATI-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ATI- ITCPH), who presented the Swine Industry Situationer. Her presentation emphasized significant industry developments, production concerns, disease management, and the shared responsibility of stakeholders in nurturing a resilient and sustainable swine industry. She also provided an overview of ATI-related initiatives under the (ITCPH), showcasing training and technical assistance opportunities for livestock stakeholders.
Furthermore, Ms. Ladylyn Jose, Information Systems Researcher II, presented ATI’s programs and priority activities, highlighting the Institute’s roles in training, extension support, partnerships, digital learning platforms, and youth engagement initiatives.
The activity emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and government agencies in advancing agricultural development and preparing the next generation of agriculture professionals.
Moreover, a total of eighty-five students and 5 faculty attended the activity held on February 20, 2026, at the ATI Function Hall, Rural Development Education Center (RDEC).
