La Trinidad, Benguet โ Sixteen (16) representatives from the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) participated in the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN) Planning Workshop from February 25-27, 2026, at the ATI- Cordillera Administrative Region (ATI- CAR), Benguet State University (BSU) Compound, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The three-day workshop serves as a venue for participatory dialogue to revisit the networkโs direction, identify key convergence areas, and set priority goals for the next three years. Through group discussions and plan presentations, the event builds consensus among participants to ensure that the outputs are relevant and actionable.
Moreover, the active participation of the ATI and BAR is critical, as these agencies serve as pillars in capacity building, technology promotion, and research development. Their combined insights ensured that the networkโs initiatives align with national research and extension priorities.
As a collaborative platform, AFRREDN strengthens the integration of efforts among agencies and stakeholders involved in agriculture and fisheries research and extension. To address evolving challenges and opportunities in the agri-fisheries sector, such as climate change, technological innovation, food security, and inclusive rural development, there is a pressing need to align and refocus network strategies, programs, and activities.
With this workshop, a comprehensive three-year convergence and development plan was formulated. This plan will outline harmonized programs and strategies to be collaboratively implemented by the network members, ensuring alignment with shared goals.
