ATI Showcases Creativity in Be RICEponsible Poster Competition

QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) celebrates this year’s National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) with a vibrant showcase of youth creativity, staging the 1st National Rice Awareness Month Poster Making Contest at the Great Eastern Hotel, Quezon Avenue, on November 25, 2025. 

Anchored on Proclamation No. 524, s. 2004, which declared November as National Rice Awareness Month, the contest carried the theme “Be RICEponsible” which seeks to spark public consciousness on responsible rice consumption, encourage healthier alternatives such as brown rice, reduce wastage, and strengthen support for local rice farmers.

Ten (10) junior high school students from the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Quezon City and Caloocan City showcased their creativity and advocacy through poster entries. After deliberation, the following winners were announced:

  • 1st Place: Iverson B. Quintua – Juan Sumulong High School, SDO-Quezon City
  • 2nd Place: Wes Matthew G. Ido – M.B. Asistio Sr. High School – Unit I, SDO-Caloocan City
  • 3rd Place: Aesha Kei C. Medallada – Llano High School, SDO-Caloocan City
Winners accept their recognition during the awarding ceremony.

ATI officials highlighted the contest as a platform for engaging the youth in contributing to sustainability and food security. The Department of Agriculture (DA) reiterates its call for Filipinos to “Be RICEponsible” by valuing rice as a staple, supporting local farmers, and promoting nutritional well-being.

In attendance were representatives from the DA, ATI staff, school officials, and partner stakeholders, underscoring the collective effort to instill rice consciousness among the younger generation.
