To promote online safety and responsible digital practices, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), in partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), conducted a Cyber Hygiene Training via Zoom on October 7, 2029. The session gathered Information Services staff from ATI Regional Training Centers nationwide to equip them with essential cybersecurity skills for safe and confident internet use.
Facilitated by PCCI trainers Roy Abenaza and Joshua Ferrido, the three-hour session covered topics on cyber hygiene fundamentals, data and device protection, scam awareness, and proper reporting of online threats. Participants learned to secure their gadgets, spot phishing and fraudulent links, and respond to possible breaches.
“Technology can be both good and bad—but since we all use smartphones, we should also be smart,” Ferrido said, emphasizing the need for awareness and vigilance in the digital space.
Pamela Mappala, Information Officer IV of the Information Services Division, underscored the timeliness of the training, noting that cybersecurity affects everyone and has become part of daily living. She also expressed appreciation to PCCI for initiating the activity, which was not part of ATI’s original plan but proved valuable to the participants.
The discussion also touched on Cyber Hygiene for Businesses, highlighting practices such as transparent data handling, secure storage, access control, and regular staff training—key steps toward a safer online environment.
At the end of the session, PCCI expressed its intent to extend the training to ATI’s regional centers. Through this partnership, ATI reaffirms its commitment to building a cyber-aware and responsible workforce ready to navigate the digital world securely. ###
