DILIMAN, Quezon City โ€“ The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Institute (NFDRI), completed its three-day training on courseware development and course administration from August 4 to 6, 2026, at the NFDRI Central Office.

The program was formally opened by Assistant Division Chief of the NFRDI Training Division Rita T. Dela Cruz, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of strengthening instructional design in agricultural and fisheries education. Serving as the resource speaker was Emerson R. Deรฑado, OIC-Section Chief of the e-Extension Management Section of the ATI-Information Services Division, who facilitated the combined technical lectures with hands-on workshops, enabling participants to design, refine, and administer their own course modules.

In the courseware development sessions, participants showcased their skills by creating a module on โ€œFreshwater Ornamental Fish Breeding and Production.โ€ They clustered the module into five lessons, presented their outputs, and refined them based on the resource speaker's recommendations. This process not only strengthened their technical capacity but also enhanced their instructional design skills, ensuring that their outputs were digestible and learner-friendly.

For course administration, Deรฑado provided an in-depth guide to the functionalities and access levels of the Learning Management System (LMS). Participants gained practical experience by assuming roles as site administrators, teachers, and students, thereby improving their digital competency and demonstrating both technical proficiency and creativity.

The initiative also promoted innovation in extension services by integrating modern tools and approaches into courseware development. More importantly, it empowered extension workers and stakeholders with the knowledge and digital skills necessary for effective knowledge sharing and sustainable development. This activity is part of the agreements set forth by the two agencies in the development of specialized online courses on fisheries through the e-Learning platform under the ATIโ€™s e-Extension Program for Agriculture and Fisheries.
