QUEZON CITY—Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Director Remelyn Recoter received a Plaque of Recognition as an Outstanding National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) Reservist Alumna during the 2nd Reservist Jamboree.

The recognition highlights her achievements and dedicated service as Acting Brigade Commander, 1802nd Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade (RRIBde) of the Philippine Army from December 7, 2009 to present. The Brigade’s areas of responsibility are the Provinces of Aklan, Antique and Capiz in Panay Island.

After NDCP, Recoter was first designated as the Liaison Officer for the Province of Aklan of the 61st Standby Reserve Infantry Division. A year after, LtCol Recoter was designated as the  Battalion Commander of   the 1st Aklan Ready Reserve Battalion (RRBn).  Since then, under her leadership, the RRBn has conducted many activities in support of Civil Military Operations of the Philippine Army.

Among which were medical and dental missions, bloodletting, clean-up drive, tree-planting, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, participation in the civic military parade and other training activities for the enhancement of the capabilities of the Unit. These activities were in collaboration with the professional societies, local government units, national government agencies, and the private sector with the guidance of its mobilization center, the 601st Community Defense Center and the 6th Regional Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command.

These activities paved the way for the recognition of the RRBn as an Outstanding Unit with Recoter being recognized as an Outstanding Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Reserve Officer in December 2006 with the AFP Chief of Staff, GEN HERMOGENES ESPERON, AFP giving the plaque of recognition.

She belongs to the Regular Class 33 of the NDCP's  Master in National Security Administration (MNSA). Recoter has been in the service as a Reserve Officer for almost 25 years. She will celebrate her silver jubilee together with her classmates in August 2024.

"For me, it widened my perspective and understanding of national security as I have taken my responsibility seriously as one at the helm of the government agency mandated to empower the stakeholders of the agriculture sector, because food insecurity is a threat to national security," Recoter said in her message on behalf of the awardees. She then thanked the ATI for allowing her to pursue her studies in 1998-1999 as a full-time student.

The 2nd Reservist Jamboree was held on July 26, 2024 at the NDCP Auditorium, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. This is part of the 61st NDCP's Founding Anniversary celebration with the theme “Sustaining the NDCP Legacy: Reinventing the Vision for National Security Education & Research”.
