QUEZON CITY - As part of the celebration of the 10th Organic Agriculture Month, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) conducted the 3rd National Kabataang OA Quiz Bee, with the theme, “Kabuhayang OA, Kinabukasang OK: PGS Pinalakas para sa Bagong Pilipinas. "
This event was in partnership with the DA - National Organic Agriculture Program, Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards, Bureau of Animal Industry, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and Bureau of Plant Industry.
Contestants came from the different regions, who won the Regional Kabataang OA Quiz Bee held during the first week of November.
Joseph Carlo Viray from Southern Luzon State University, representing the Calabarzon Region was hailed as overall champion, with Reynaldo Mira from JH Cerilles State University of Zamboanga Peninsula came in as 2nd Place. Rica Adelaine Oliquino from Sorsogon State University-Castilla Campus of the Bicol Region came in 3rd place, 4th Place was awarded to Via Marie Alpas from Central Mindanao, and the 5th Place to Andreana Melgar from Mindanao State University.
ATI Assistant Director Antonieta Arceo highlighted the love for learning and knowledge, a positive attitude, passion to share, and being well-informed as key to becoming a successful young farmer entrepreneur. Arceo also thanked them for taking agriculture as their specialization and further encouraged them to remain in the sector as the Institute is banking on them to continue advocating for organic agriculture. She also thanked the OA focal persons and coaches for their support and congratulated everyone as they were already winners in their own right and reminded them to enjoy the experience and have fun.
The event was held last November 14, 2024 at the Axiaa Hotel, Quezon City.
