This initiative is in line with the Institute’s commitment to empower its staff, enhance their skills, and ensure high-quality extension services as part of its comprehensive strategy to develop a competency-based curriculum (CBC), innovate sustainable intervention methods, and strengthen the essential skills of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs).

The training employs various strategies such as lectures, discussions, exercises, and community visits, with assessment tools including pre and post-training tests, interviews, and homestay journals.

Participants brainstorming during the hands-on activities.

As part of the training, the participants will immerse with host families in Tarlac to identify areas to capitalize on or improve in terms of providing extension and training services. This includes  demonstrating communication competencies during community visits, and proposing interventions for key challenges faced by farmers and their families.

Starting in 2025, all ATI Training Centers will offer the Basic Agricultural Extension Course in their respective regions, targeting the AEWs at the local government units to enhance their understanding and delivery of agricultural extension services.

ATI's efforts to provide career growth opportunities reflect its dedication to motivating staff to work passionately and deliver top-quality extension services.
