
ATI-El Salvador City—Farm tourism is a growing trend in the Philippines, as more and more people seek unique and authentic experiences that connect them with nature, rural lifestyles, and the farming industry. Northern Mindanao has emerged as a hub for farm tourism, with a range of farms and agri-tourism destinations offering visitors the chance to learn about the local agricultural landscape.
Rising to the challenge of sustaining the farm tourism industry, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continuously capacitates its Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSAs) and other farms in the region to be farm tourism ready. ATI-Regional Training Center X commences the Skills Training on Landscaping towards Farm Tourism today, May 10, 2023, at ATI-RTC X compound, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
The training aims to produce more farm tourism destinations in the region and improve the existing ones by capacitating them in the concepts of landscape design, landscape construction, droughting and contracting, and
The activity is being participated in by 19 participants composed of LSA cooperators, farmer leaders, and young farmers from the different provinces of Region 10.
Planning Officer II, Mael Japheth G. Alvarez graced the opening program of the training. In his message, Alvarez challenged the participants to learn and apply what they learned to transform their respective farms into a farm that could inspire not only their neighborhood but also everyone who visits their farm in the future.
Farm tourism in Northern Mindanao is an exciting development that offers visitors a chance to experience the beauty and diversity of the country's rural landscapes and connect with the people and culture that make it so unique.
