ATI-RTC X trains MCES Teachers, Parents, Students on Organic Concoction Making

Maramag, BUKIDNON--- Empowering teachers and parents to be enablers of the Department’s goal in promoting self-help food production activities among the youth and strengthening their appreciation of agriculture is the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) aim in the region.

ATI-RTC X conducted a one-day seminar on Organic Concoction and Extract Making at Maramag Central Elementary School, Poblacion, Maramag, Bukidnon on March 29, 2022. The activity was participated by 28 participants from MCES, composed of teachers and students, and some of their parents.

Lecture and discussion on natural organic inputs and sharing of relevant experiences from the Resource Person and the PASS Chief Javier P. Andalan of ATI-RTC X were followed by a small-group hands-on activity on making different natural farming system concoctions such as Oriental Herb Nutrients(OHN), Fermented Plant Juice(FPJ), Fermented Fruit Juice(FFJ), and Carbonized Rice Hull (CRH). Mr. Andalan is also the focal-In-Charge of the Organic Agriculture Program in region 10. The participants were appreciative of the activity.

“ I am a plantita, and this training is a great help to me. I realized that there are lots of resources available [ to plant and produce our own food], we just need to be resourceful and work hard,” said Remma Fe D. Micayabas, one of the participants of the seminar.
Micayabas further said that she will be sharing what she learned, especially with the Mothers in her community since they are the ones responsible for preparing food for their families.

This activity was in response to the request of MCES to capacitate their staff on organic agriculture and other production technology to help them improve their school's implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Project.
Ms. Engenia Siton, a participant in the seminar expressed her gratitude to DA ATI-RTC X for the prompt action on their request, “This training is a big help for us to improve our Gulayan sa Paaralan at school, and to our families, [through it] we can now produce and put healthy food on our table.”

MCES was recognized as one of the best implementers of the Gulay sa Paaralan Program in the Division of Bukidnon. ### (from the reports of Jisa T. Dulay)
