ATI Compound, EL SALVADOR CITY---The management and staff of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) recently participated in a seminar on Digital Safety and Security in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) - Region 10. The said seminar aligns with broader efforts to enhance cybersecurity awareness and skills, reflecting initiatives undertaken by the DICT-10 in Northern Mindanao, which has significantly strengthened cybersecurity through awareness campaigns and technical training.
DICT-10 Planning Assistant Norhaifah M. Amoran provided an overview of cybersecurity, highlighting the common types of cyber-attacks that individuals and organizations face. These include phishing, smishing, and vishing, which occur through computers, text messages, and phone calls, respectively.
Planning Officer II Engr. Jawad R. Abbas emphasized the importance of maintaining good cybersecurity hygiene to navigate the digital world safely. He discussed data breaches and the critical role of cybersecurity in protecting personal and organizational data. Key practices include avoiding the sharing of personal information, verifying URL credibility using website validators, utilizing VPNs, anti-virus software, and firewalls, and employing password managers to secure devices.

Center Director Maria Lydia A. Echavez underscored the interconnected nature of the world and the need for vigilance in the digital space. She encouraged participants to "think before you click" and apply the knowledge gained from the training not only for personal use but also in their professional capacities.
In his closing remarks, OIC-Assistant Center Director Efren C. Macario challenged the management and staff to be discerning when engaging online and cautious when accepting calls to avoid scams. He emphasized that applying the learned skills is crucial for maintaining digital safety and security.

Mercado of the Career Development and Management Section (CDMS) in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) - Region 10 today March 25.
