Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City---The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 10 (ATI-RTC 10) recently completed its 3-day Capacity Enhancement Training on Coffee Appreciation that focused on roasting and grading following the existing Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Post-harvest Practices and Bean Selection in Cagayan de Oro City under the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Program.

The PAFE system seeks to coordinate provincial agricultural strategies and programs while delivering extension services to the local level, hence the training was conducted through the collaborative efforts between the said center and the Province of Misamis Oriental.

Twenty-six participants attended and completed the training launched on October 16-18, 2023 composed of AEWs, farmer leaders, and farmers. The training participants were exposed to coffee bean selection, grading, and roasting through a hands-on demonstration and workshop conducted by representatives of the ImDalSa Cooperative.

The training participants also toured the Jamaican F & B Farm which is owned and managed by Mr. Renato Sumania. The participants were given a chance to taste a bean-to-cup coffee while on-site – raised and brewed by the owner and his group themselves. (Text and photos provided by: Karlo Jayvert R.
