ATI-10 holds Integrated Pest Management Training

Malaybalay City, BUKIDNON--- To improve the farmer’s quality of life, soil health and the welfare of the environment, a Training of Trainers on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Highland and Lowland Vegetables was conducted recently. Sixteen AEWs and five farmer leaders from the different municipalities/cities in Region 10 attended the training which was conducted from May 29 to June 2, 2023 held at the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC) in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Invited speakers were from the DA-RFO NMACLRC and Regional Crop Protection (RCPC). Lectures, hands-on activities such as Biofumigation, Insect Pest and Diseases Collection for AESA and Field Practicum were the highlights of the said training.

One of the activities in the training included a field visit to the Regional Crop Protection Center X in Bangcud, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.  Mr. Tito Manigos, Jr. of RCPC 10, welcomed the participants by orienting them with the functions of RCPC 10. Meanwhile, Ritchie M. Soriano shared the vision, mission and objectives, and introduced the available Biological Control Agents reared in the laboratory of the said agency.

The participants did a field tour and randomly visited laboratories for Trichoderma sp., Metarhizium sp. and Beuvaria sp., Earwigs, beneficial Lady Bugs and Trichogramma sp.
