EAsy Agri scholars batch 3 convene for contract signing

ATI compound, Poblacion, El Salvador City ---A signing of their scholarship contract with the grantees of the Agricultural Training Institute’s (ATI) Educational Assistance for the Youth in Agriculture (EAsY Agri) transpired recently in the presence of their parents and guardians. For batch 3, eight came from the Province of Bukidnon, three scholars from Camiguin and Misamis Oriental respectively, and two scholars from the provinces of Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte respectively.

The EAsY Agri Program aims to support smallholder farmers and fishers who are into agriculture by providing scholarship support to pursue their education by taking Agriculture degree programs and other related programs. It also aims to contribute to the improvement and competitiveness of Philippine agriculture towards achieving food security and alleviation of the socio-economic status of families in the agriculture and fisheries sector.

At the moment, there are 49 active scholars of the ATI EAsY Agri with the addition of 18 new scholars this school year.  Center Director Maria Lydia A. Echavez delivered her welcome message and presented the scholarship guidelines, obligations, and responsibilities of the scholars.

Among the 18 scholars for batch 3, nine are starting their studies as scholars at the Central Mindanao University (CMU), three at Camiguin Polytechnic State College, four at USTP-Claveria, and one scholar each for MSU-Naawan and MSU-Marawi respectively. With more scholars and agriculture graduates produced by state universities, the said program also intends to produce agricultural professionals and new breeds of farmers with agribusiness enterprises.

Development Management Officer II Jhoylie Mae R. Caumban facilitated the contract signing activity along with the training management team Frances Mari G. Roa, Hannah Eleanor N. Santander, Shirley delos Reyes, and Miraflor Ofonda-Bonifacio. Also witnessing the contract signing activity is the center’s accountant Augem Gail I. Guzman. After the giving of an impression from the scholars and the parents, PAS Chief Javier P. Andalan delivered his response and closing message.
