Emasculation and assisted pollination for coconut hybridization

Aroman, Carmen, COTABATO CITY---Participants of the Training on Coconut Hybridization Protocols and Nursery Management engaged in an assisted pollination technique through emasculation and pollination to attain coconut hybridization. Emasculation is the process of removing the male flowers from the female parent palm.

The activity was part of the Training on Coconut Hybridization Protocols and Nursery Management which aims to develop and increase the knowledge and upskill the AEWs and farmer leader training participants on coconut hybridization protocols and nursery management.

The series of regional, provincial, and municipal level training of trainers equip various stakeholders such as the Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from the Local Government Units (LGUs), farmer leaders, learning site cooperators with the proper knowledge to harness their skills on coconut production across the value chain at PCA-NCSPC, Aroman, Carmen, Cotabato, with 21 participants completing the activity on August 14-18, 2023.
