As a means of mitigating the proliferation of mango pests in the region, a training on Insecticide Resistance Management (IRM) was recently conducted as a way to cope with the pesticide-related concerns as well as the current problem of mango pests outbreak.
The Training of Trainers on IRM for Mango Pests aims to let the participants identify and use appropriate strategies and tools in formulating insecticide-resistance management for multi-pest situation in mango that are applicable in mango farms and production areas.
Dr. Celia dela Rosa Medina, a professor from UPLB, served as the resource person and delivered lectures and demonstrations on pesticide formulation, observation of mango pests, and collection of specimens (pests) at the Areta Mango Farm. Participants were given illuminated loupe, protective sleeves and hat, hand gloves, and an IRM guide to be able to apply and practice what they have learned during the duration of the training.
