Malaybalay City, BUKIDNON---To further promote and strengthen soybean production in Northern Mindanao, the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office X (DA-RFO X), successfully conducted the Training on Soybean Production and Management on April 8–10, 2025 at the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC) in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
The three-day training program gathered 30 participants from the provinces of Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon, who are either engaged in or interested in soybean farming. The primary goal of the program was to upscale soybean production rate in the region and empower local farmers by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to maximize the crop’s potential for income generation.

The training featured a blend of lectures, hands-on workshops, and field exposure. Resource persons from both DA-RFO X and ATI-RTC X shared their expertise in various aspects of soybean production and utilization.
Participants were also introduced to the latest technologies and research-based practices to help them adopt sustainable farming systems. Special emphasis was given to the economic and nutritional benefits of soybeans, highlighting its potential as a high-protein food source and a raw material for various processed products.
Field Visit and Practical Sessions
To reinforce the discussions, the participants engaged in a field visit within the NMACLRC facility, where they observed soybean demo plots.

Looking Ahead
ATI-RTC X and DA-RFO X reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local farmers through continued capacity-building initiatives and field-based interventions. Both agencies recognize the strategic importance of soybeans through their contribution to diversified farming systems, soil fertility through nitrogen fixation, and increased income opportunities for rural communities.
With growing interest in soybean production across Northern Mindanao, the training served as a vital step towards building a self-reliant and resilient farming community, capable of meeting local demand while contributing to the national goal of food security. (by: Karlo Jayvert Cardente, TSS)
