Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City---Twenty-five participants from the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, and Bukidnon successfully completed the Training on Leadership and Extension Management for Extension Managers in a recent training activity organized by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) through its Career Development and Management Services (CDMS).
Former ATI-RTC 7Center Director Carolyn May O. Daquio, Ph.D., OIC-Assistant Center Director Noemi Beth G. Macario, OIC-ISS Chief Maria Eloisa A. Akut and Administrative Officer IV Efren C. Macario of ATI-RTC X served as resource persons during the training.
Center Director Maria Lydia A. Echavez delivered her welcome address during the opening program. In her message, she emphasized the importance of leadership training in government service and reminded everyone to keep learning and growing. In it, she expressed her gratitude to all the participants especially their Local Chief Executives for sending them to attend the training.
Agricultural Extension Management: An Introduction and The Art of Extension and The Science of Agriculture was delivered by Dr. Carolyn May O. Daquio, former Center Director of ATI-RTC X.
The participants were engaged in the participative lecture-discussion on Leadership Effectiveness in Extension, Enhancing Leadership Skills in Extension, and Leadership and Facilitating Change on the second day which was delivered by Dr. Daquio. She used a variety of teaching methods such as individual and group workshops and lots of sharing of experiences.
The lecture on Leading in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA) World and Performance Coaching and Mentoring was delivered by Ms. Macario. Her lectures also included a series of workshops.
On the third day of training Mr. Efren C. Macario, Administrative Officer IV of ATI-RTC X, discussed the topic of The Extension Worker as a Professional. His lecture also included an individual workshop and selected participants shared their output. The activity was followed by Ms. Maria Eloisa A. Akut, ISS Chief of ATI-RTC X where she lectured on Extension Communication.
During the closing ceremony, three participants expressed their impressions for the whole duration of the training. They also expressed their gratitude to ATI-RTC x Management, Resource Persons, facilitators, and co-participants.
A special award was given to the participant with the highest increment in learning. Ms. Maria Eloisa A. Akut from ATI-RTC X gave the closing message. In it she expressed her hopes that everyone will go out of the room as better Extension Managers but most importantly, better versions of themselves. The Training on Leadership and Extension Management for Extension Managers was conducted last September 26-28, 2023 in Cagayan de Oro City. (submitted by: Teodosia D.
