Malaybalay City, Bukidnon---A group of training participants consisting of two batches of Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) cooperators, Farmers' Information Technology Services (FITS) center staff, and Magsasaka Siyentista (MS) took part in the latest “Writeshop on Knowledge Products (KP) Development for Certified Learning Site for Agriculture in Region 10” at the Veranda in Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on May 13-15, 2024.
Knowledge products include printed publications and documents coming from specialized fields, research, and learning insights, tailored fit to meet diverse user needs. They involve the production, translation, presentation, and dissemination of knowledge across multiple platforms in the form of corporate materials, success stories, and techno-based materials. Through effective knowledge management, these products carry and contain processed and packaged knowledge ready for use by end users.
Seasoned media practitioner Nef T. Luczon, the Bureau Chief of the Philippine News Agency (PNA), shared his expertise during the workshop. Participants delved into Technical Writing, Success Story Writing, Basic Photography, and Packaging of Best Farming Practices, Farm Technology, and Innovations. The training participants’ output will form part of a book compendium showcasing their best farming practices.
During the second batch of training on May 15-17, participants engaged in a one-day workshop focusing on storytelling. One of the key activities involved coming up with a storyfied information and crafting stories based on information gathered from various news sources. Such writing exercises challenged participants to synthesize their knowledge and experiences into compelling written narratives.
Senior Agriculturist Javier P. Andalan and Technical Support Staff Cherry M. Agbon led the writeshop, which was a collaborative effort between the Partnership and Accreditation Section (PAS) and the Information Services Section (ISS) of the center. Media Production Specialist Vic Thor A. Palarca from the ISS provided feedback on the participants' work and offered writing tips and pointers to help them enhance their output.
Moreover, the book compendium will serve as a knowledge bank or as a locally-based technology reference for other small or aspiring farmers. The compendium also intends to inspire other farmers and young farmer enthusiasts through the journey of successful LSA farmers in the region.
“Their output will be packaged into a book, which will then be distributed to the youth, other farmers, and other sectors, through other government agencies, the academe, local government units, and other partners in extension services”, said Project Officer Cristine A. Galupo.
