The Training on Financial Literacy Training through Simple Bookkeeping Batch 1, was successfully conducted last February 17–21, 2025, in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Selected irrigators associations from Bukidnon, along with agricultural extension workers, participated in the 5-day long activity.
OIC-Assistant Center Director Mr. Efren C. Macario led an insightful discussion on Cash Management within associations, highlighting the significance of the Imprest System in ensuring effective and accountable cash handling. The discussion provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles, emphasizing the importance of transparency, accuracy, and control in handling association funds. As part of the session, participants actively engaged in drafting well-structured policies on cash disbursement, cash collection, and petty cash management. These policies were developed to establish clear guidelines for financial transactions, mitigate risks, and enhance the efficiency of cash flow management within the association. The finalized drafts will be presented to the Board of Directors for review and approval, reinforcing the association’s commitment to sound financial governance and responsible fiscal practices.

Moreover, Ms. Augem Gail Guzman, Accountant I, encouraged the rice farmers in the association to develop their knowledge of simple bookkeeping and basic accounting. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, she fostered a supportive learning environment, enabling them to manage their finances with confidence. By simplifying complex concepts into practical, real-world applications—such as tracking expenses and profits from their harvest—she ensured that the learning process was both accessible and engaging, promoting financial literacy and empowerment.
