Lala, LANAO DEL NORTE—To address the declining rice yields in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) conducted a Training on Integrated Rice-Duck Farming System (IRDFS) at Jika Farms and Fields Café Co. in Lanao del Norte.

The five-day training session was attended by 30 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from various parts of the region.

This program provided participants with practical knowledge and skills in sustainable agriculture through the combined approach of rice and duck farming. Mr. James Longcob from JPL Farm, a Learning Site of Agriculture under ATI-RTC X, served as the resource speaker of the training. His lectures covered various aspects of the IRDFS, including duck breeds, breeding practices, proper housing, feeding methods, and health management.

In addition, participants learned about climate change adaptation and mitigation techniques applicable to farming, as well as essential aspects of farm business management, such as planning, budgeting, and record-keeping, which was discussed by DMO I Jhoylie Mae Caumban.

As part of the training, participants were required to develop an integrated farm plan that reflected the knowledge they gained from the resource speakers during the activity.

The training was held on March 24-28, 2025.
