Highlighting the theme, "ATI LEADS: Innovate, Transform, Empower—Embracing Extension Modernization for a Progressive and Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries," the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC XI) held its regional celebration of the agency’s 36th founding anniversary on January 31, 2023.
The activity kicked off with a thanksgiving mass and was followed by a motorcade, attended by ATI-RTC XI staff and visitors from all over the region.
In her welcome message during the opening program, OIC Center Director Olivia D. Gatus underscored the valuable contributions of ATI partners in scaling up the adoption and use of agricultural technology through the provision of extension modalities. She expressed her gratitude to all of the partner agencies who have supported ATI throughout the years and asked for their continued assistance going forward.
"With your commitment and support, ATI will accomplish so much," she said.
On the other hand, Mr. Samuel L. Anay, Panabo City Agriculturist, emphasized the important role of the agency in providing agricultural information to Agriculture Extension Workers (AEWs), farmers, and fisherfolk to help strengthen food security in the city.
Moreover, Dir. Abel James I. Monteagudo, Regional Executive Director, Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO XI), represented by Mr. Andres L. Alemania, Assistant Regional Director for Research & Regulations, lauded ATI for its "non-stop education for farmers being the country's capacity builder, knowledge bank, and catalyst" for agriculture and fisheries, and its "determination in bringing the Philippine farming system to the world." The head of the office also expressed support for ATI, stating, "We are in this together as partners in this endeavor."
Mr. Januario E. Yamota, Chief, Education Program Supervisor, Department of Education (DepEd) Panabo Division, Ms. Alphabet Gulanes, a representative from the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) of Davao del Norte, and Mr. Allan Macansantos, Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council-Region XI (RAFC-XI) also graced the event.
A turnover of educational gadgets for ATI scholars, as well as fund support for newly certified and enhanced Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) cooperators and NUPAP Community Garden beneficiaries likewise took place during the program.
Meanwhile, the celebration also includes simultaneous training on mushroom processing, artisan chocolate making, and e-Learning for Agriculture and Fisheries orientation, participated in by visitors which are RIC members, farmers, ATI scholars and high school students. Ms. Vilma V. Solilap, owner of Mavil’s House of Mushroom, Ms. Joycedel Macias, Chocolatier, and Information Services Section (ISS) staff served as resource persons, respectively.
The one-day event also showcased an agri-product exhibit with participation by LSA cooperators, the Davao del Norte Rabbit Meat Association, PILMICO, and the P2 Small Farmers Association. There were also activities like parlor games, a raffle, and IEC distribution.
A weeklong national-level anniversary celebration was held at ATI Central Office in Quezon City last January 23-27.
