PANABO CITY— The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI conducted a Training on Drafting Business/Enterprise Proposals on June 26-28, 2024. The training aimed to equip 35 agricultural extension workers (AEWs), Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) Cooperators, youth interns, and practitioners focused on Organic Agriculture (OA) with knowledge and skills in entrepreneurial and farm business management.
Among the key objectives covered in the training were understanding enterprise profitability, effectively presenting business plans, reviewing record-keeping practices, and maintaining farm business records. Participants also gained insights into marketing strategies, developing farm visions and goals, selecting appropriate enterprises, outlining components of farm business plans, and assessing business risks.
In addition to lectures and workshops, participants engaged in a field practicum by conducting a market survey at Tagum City Public Market, in collaboration with Tagum City Economic Enterprise Office. They gathered data on market dynamics such as the roles and perspectives of key players. This survey involved producers, farmers, wholesalers, retailers, and consumers, aiming to gather comprehensive insights into crop and livestock production methods, pricing strategies, inventory management, customer preferences, and logistical challenges.
Furthermore, participants visited the farm of Ms. Glydel Jean D. Nabares, a scholar of the OA Internship Program from Braulio E. Dujali, Davao del Norte, where she showcased her thriving enterprise in organic egg production through duck raising. She recounted her journey and imparted sustainable farming practices, effective management strategies, and her commitment to maintaining high product standards. Ms. Nabares' insights and motivational words inspired fellow interns, highlighting the importance of determination and resilience in achieving success in organic agriculture.
Mr. Jerry C. Carpentero, Planning Officer II, and Engr. Ariel D. Abastillas, Technical Staff from ATI-RTC XI, served as Resource Persons throughout the training.
Having gained valuable skills and knowledge essential for writing effective business proposals, participants are now prepared to apply their learnings and share this information with other farmers, youth, and fellow OA practitioners.
