PANABO CITY– Two young farmers from Davao Region namely Feona Fier B. Hofileña and John Emilex C. Fuerzas, along with farm partner Mr. Eustaquio C. Pasalo, Jr., owner of Sharpstone Agri Tourist Farm Integrated Farm signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC XI) as recipients of the Youth Internship Program for Corn Farmers on October 25, 2024.
During the event, Mr. Rolls M. Rubis, Training Specialist I and Corn Focal Person at ATI-RTC XI, explained the scholarship's rationale, objectives, implementation guidelines, and recruitment procedures.
The interns will undergo a seven-month onsite training program at the farm partner’s facility, where they will receive mentorship on various activities within the corn value chain, including value addition, processing, and marketing. Upon completion of the internship, the interns will be awarded a start-up fund of PHP 150,000.00 to implement their approved business plans, providing them with practical experience for one year.
Also present at the MOA signing were Center Director Alicia Rose Nebreja, Mr. James Philip Saludares, Accountant I, and the parents and relatives of the interns.
The Youth Internship Program for Young Corn Farmers is a collaborative effort between the Department of Agriculture National Corn Program, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office, and the ATI. This initiative aims to provide opportunities for youth to acquire practical knowledge, skills, and practices in corn-based agri-entrepreneurship.
