Search for Young Filipino Farmers Internship Program in Taiwan- Batch 2023

The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI is filling out three (3) slots for the Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program (FYFIP) in Taiwan.

The FYFIP in Taiwan is a partnership between Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines to enhance existing relations through the implementation of an Internship Program for qualified young Filipino farmers. It consists of the acquisition of skills and knowledge through the exchange of modern agricultural and fisheries techniques, marketing strategies and mechanisms, cooperative management, and enhancement of competencies, discipline, and values.

Specifically, the program seeks to:

a. Provide technical knowledge and skills in agricultural and cooperative management;
b. Introduce modern techniques, approaches, and marketing strategies in agriculture and fishery developed and practiced by Taiwan;
c. Offer opportunities for exchange of agricultural information of mutual interest among participants; and
d. Serve as a platform wherein young farmers can harness their leadership potentials.

Basic Qualifications:

  1.  Young Filipino farmer preferably a member of 4-H Club in the Philippines who is an out-of-school youth (OSY), specifically, not attending school for at least one year prior to application;
  2. High school graduate of senior high school level, undergraduate, if college level, and/or technical or vocational graduate;
  3. Male or female, between 20-35 years old, single, and has no live-in partner or child at the time of application. Age requirement may vary depending on the partner country;
  4. Can be a son or daughter of a farmer or fisher, or cooperator of the ATI-certified LSA or Farm School;
  5. Has existing agricultural land, regardless of size and status of ownership;
  6. Not employed in any job for at least one year at the time of application, certified by the Local Government Unit (LGU);
  7. Not related to any ATI employee by affinity or consanguinity, for up to 3rd degree;
  8. Must have at least one (1) year of accumulated farming experience at the time of application;
  9. Have no overdue obligations  from the DA or ATI at the time of application;
  10. Not a recipient of ATI's other International Exchange Programs, and has no previous overseas travel related to the internship;
  11. Has good community standing and/or good moral character certified  by LGU;
  12. Has good communication skills and good English proficiency;
  13. Willing to learn new technologies and foreign language;
  14. Passed the following medical examination, to be done in diagnostic clinics, hospitals, or laboratories accredited by the Department of Health (DOH); a) dental examination, b) chest x-ray for tuberculosis, c) stool examination for parasites, d) serological test for syphilis, e) proof of positive measles and rubella antibody, f) examination for Hansen's disease, d) skin examination for Hepatitis B and HIV or AIDs, h) ECG exam, and i) drug and neuro-psychological tests;
  15. Must be fully vaccinated (with 3 doses) against COVID-19 at the time of application, including booster shots; and
  16. If applicable, a certificate from the doctor of no tattoos and/or piercing in any part of the body, ear piercing is allowed for females only.
