Agricultural Training Institute XI equipped 30 4-H and Rural Improvement Club Members and Coordinators about "Swine Artificial Insemination and Meat Processing," on July 15-19, 2024 at the region's training center in Panabo City .
“This training will equip participants with key knowledge to tackle challenges in swine farming and focused on essential skills for modern swine management to address those challenges," Dr. Omarbliss B. Dalam, Senior Agriculturist, said.
Participants appreciated that the training covered a range of important topics, including current trends in the swine industry, effective feeding practices, and new housing designs for swine production. “Participants should understand nutrition and biosecurity for it is crucial for overcoming industry problems," Dr. Rommel B. Montiel shared.
4-H and RIC coordinators and members expressed that the practical and hands-on approach of the training were incredibly useful. “They gave us real-life skills that we can immediately apply on our agribusinesses," Mark Tayong, 4H member, shared.
The training also included practical sessions on disease control and waste management, addressing issues like ASF and rising feed costs. Detailed modules on meat processing covered techniques for meat fabrication and preservation. Ms. Cristine Perez said that skills learned are crucial for boosting productivity and finding new market opportunities.
"We have designed this training for our participants to the participants will gain knowledge and skills in swine production as an enterprise," Ms. Lynn Leopoldo, Development Management Officer, emphasized.
The training was organized efficiently, with all necessary resources and logistics in place and has helped the participants to be equupied with new skills that can effectively support regional development in swine farming.”
