The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC XI) participated in the "Training on Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion for Private and Public Trainers" on July 15-19, 2024, at Monte Frio Resort, Kapatagan, Digos City, to support gender equality, disability, and social inclusion within the bureau.
Organized by Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Philippines, the five-day workshop aimed to deepen the understanding of GEDSI principles among public and private trainers, especially within the agricultural sector. Participants were equipped with the Gender Analysis Framework and Tools, essential for promoting inclusive practices in agriculture.
Carlos Penera, GIZ Cacao+ advisor, inaugurated the training by welcoming the participants and highlighting the event's significance. "This training is pivotal in fostering social inclusion within the cocoa farming community," he remarked.
GEDSI advocate Sandilyn Bedro led the sessions, ensuring participants' engagement and learning. โThis training will help your organization become more inclusive with your projects, programs, and activities, especially for the LGBTQ+, indigenous peoples, and people with disabilities,โ she emphasized.
Representing ATI-RTC XI, Jerry C. Carpentero, the GAD focal person, along with colleagues Jamila Ameerah Castor and Babyglace R. Lanit, demonstrated a strong commitment to advocating for GEDSI principles in their professional environments. Their collaboration with other participants underscored the collective effort to integrate gender equality, disability, and social inclusion into everyday practices.

The training gathered a diverse group of participants, including staff from the Department of Agriculture's High Value Crops Development Program, Bureau of Plant Industry, and Kennemer Foods International. This event reinforced the concepts of Gender and Development within ATI-RTC XI, promoting equality and inclusion in agricultural training and practice in the Philippines, advancing GEDSI in the agricultural sector.
