ATI RTC XI warmly welcomed Oliver Karkoschka and Elpe Canoog from Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Philippines on August 9, 2024, for the central evaluation of the GIZ cacao+ project. This visit underscored ATI-Davaoโs continued engagement with the GIZ cacao+ initiatives.
Assistant Director Olivia D. Gatus reflected on the significant strides made through the GIZ partnership, highlighting its positive impact on cacao farming. She was joined by Mr. Richel Zamora, ย Training Specialist II, Jerry Carpentero, Planning Officer II and other ATI staff actively involved in the program.
"The partnership between GIZ and ATI has been crucial for cacao farmers in the Davao region, especially as it also supports the Coconut Farmers and Industry Developmentย Program (CFIDP). Cacao, as one of the ย major crops ย in the region, offers valuable opportunities for diversification with coconut," stated Ms. Olivia Gatus. ย She further extended her gratitude to GIZ for collaborating with ATI on the Cacao+ Project for sustainable development.
Mr. Zamora commended GIZโs efforts in developing the updated cacao facilitation guide. "The updated guide has been incredibly beneficial for ATI and other cacao advocates, providing a standardized technology resource that aids our goal of enhancing farmers' incomes through improved cacao farming practices."
GIZ has also provided training for staff from various government agencies and bureaus, enhancing their work with Davao's farmers. "GIZ has been instrumental in educating us about Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion in coconut farming, fostering greater inclusivity in our work," Ms. BabyGlace Lanit expressed.
