ATI-RTC XI Conducts Successful Training on Basic Hydroponics Under NUPAP in Davao del Norte

The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC XI) hosted a Training on Basic Hydroponics under the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP) from June 26 to 28, 2024 at ATI RTC XI, Datu Abdul Dadia, Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

A total of 42 participants were equipped with fundamental knowledge and skills in hydroponic farming as a sustainable and safe alternative for food production.

Ms. Pauline Joy Reyes, the NUPAP focal person, presented Urban Agriculture as a viable farming method for urban settings. She also elaborated on the various programs and activities under NUPAP that support urban agriculture initiatives.

One of the  highlights of the training was a hands-on activity at CAGAPE’s Crisp Green Farm in Panabo City, owned by Ms. Eleanor M. Cagape. As the resource person, Ms. Cagape provided practical insights and guidance, enhancing the participants' learning experience. 

In addition, Mr. Francis C. Papuran, a young farmer and practitioner, shared his expertise on urban hydroponic setup and installations, including a detailed cost-return analysis of hydroponic farming.

The training included Farmer Associations, Cooperatives, Teachers, Students, and RIC members from Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro. The diverse group of attendees benefited from the collaborative and informative sessions, fostering a community dedicated to advancing urban agriculture practices.
