The Davao City Agriculturist's Office held a Youth Forum for 4-H Club leaders and members at the Davao Food Terminal Complex in Brgy. Daliao, Toril District. The event brought together young people involved in agriculture from different districts in Davao City on August 21, 2024.
The forum aimed to inform participants about services, resources, and opportunities from local and national government agencies. Ms. Lynn Leopoldo, the 4-H Focal Person, presented various programs and training opportunities available to the youth through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI). She highlighted how ATI supports young farmers and those interested in agriculture.
Messages were delivered by key figures, including Josephine J. Martin, OIC-Division Chief of the Agribusiness Development Services Division, and Edgardo A. Haspe, OIC of the City Agriculturistโs Office. Olive P. Puentespina, an award-winning entrepreneur from Malagos Farmhouse Cheese, also shared her experience and success in the agricultural field.
Representatives from TESDA XI and the Department of Agriculture-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (DA-AMAD) shared additional insights on programs that could benefit the youth in agriculture. The event concluded with the promise of more opportunities and support for 4-H members in Davao City.
This forum empowered young farmers by connecting them with the tools and resources needed to advance their involvement in the agricultural sector.
