CITY OF MATI, Davao Oriental– The Department of Agriculture–National Livestock Program (DA-NLP) and DA-Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (DA-ATI-RTC XI), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of City of Mati, successfully held the Groundbreaking Ceremony and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing for the establishment of the 30-Sow Level Multiplier and Techno-Demo Farm Project on November 5, 2024 in Sitio Sawahon, Brgy. Sainz.
This project is part of DA's interventions under the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) aimed at ensuring a sustainable source of quality hogs for local farmers. It will enhance breeding techniques and provide better access to quality swine stock, supporting the long-term sustainability of the swine industry.
The groundbreaking ceremony was marked by the official turnover of a P10 Million check and MOA signing between ATI-RTC XI and the LGU-City of Mati. Key officials in attendance included City Mayor Hon. Michelle N. Rabat, City Vice Mayor Hon. Lorenzo Leon G. Rabat, City Councilor Hon. Samuel Rodriguez, City Agriculturist Rommel Avance, and Barangay Captain Anthony John Erik N. Rabat. Also present were ATI-RTC XI officials, including Center Director Alicia Rose D. Nebreja, PASS Chief Dr. Omarbliss B. Dalam, Accountant I James Philip Saludares, and INSPIRE Project Engineer Ken Lloyd F. Pabilan, alongside local farmers and representatives from the City Agriculture Office and Barangay LGU.
This collaboration signifies a crucial step toward enhancing the region's swine production capabilities and supporting sustainable agricultural development in Mati City and surrounding areas.
