DFP Training for Coconut Farmers Officially Launched

PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE - Coconut farmers in the region took a step into digital agriculture with the launch of the Digital Farmers Program (DFP) Training of Trainers (TOT) at ATI-RTC XI on March 26-28, 2025.

A total of 32 coco-based Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSAs) cooperators and Farmer Leaders (FLs) participated in this pilot training, under the Coconut Farmers Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).

Over three days, participants immersed themselves in the DFP 101 and 102 modules and explored a variety of digital tools and applications designed to boost farm productivity and improve market access. More than just learning new technologies, they also honed their teaching skills through a micro-teaching session, preparing them to train fellow farmers in their respective municipalities.

As these new trainers step into their roles, they will be instrumental in rolling out the program within the year, paving the way for a more tech-savvy and competitive coconut farming industry. By embracing digital innovations, coconut farmers can modernize their practices, increase efficiency, and open new opportunities for growth.

Assistant Center Director Olivia D. Gatus and CFIDP Focal Person underscored the crucial role that these trainers will play in guiding other coconut farmers in adopting digital farming methods. Their dedication will drive the widespread adoption of technology, ultimately transforming the coconut industry for the better.

Ms. Assel M. Mapayo, Information Officer and DFP Focal Person; Ms. Babyglace R. Lanit, Agriculturist I; and Mr. Bendaim Lerz F. Cachuela, Technical Staff, served as resource persons for the training.

With this successful launch, the DFP takes a significant step forward in integrating technology into coconut farming, ensuring that farmers remain competitive in the evolving agricultural landscape.
