TANTANGAN, South Cotabato – The Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center XII (DA ATI-RTC XII) holds National Corn Specialist Training Course (CSTC) Commencement Exercises last December 13, 2022.
A total of twenty-five (25) CSTC graduates coming from various ATI RTCs, Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Offices, Local Government Units, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and 118 local corn farmers from FFS have received their certificate of completion.
ATI National Director Engr. Remelyn R. Recoter, MNSA, CESO III extended her congratulations to the graduates for successfully completing the season-long training.
Dir. Recoter also reiterated the importance of our corn farmers as they are vital in producing one of the major staple foods consumed worldwide.
Meanwhile, Mr Jeffrey O. Awas was recognized as Batch Valedictorian and delivered his message of appreciation during the ceremony. In his message, Mr. Awas extended his heartfelt gratitude to the whole ATI family, CSTC batchmates, facilitators and dedicated this recognition to every corn farmer in his community.
Present in the event were Mr. Zaldy M. Boloron RTD – Chief of Field Operations RFO XII, Hon. Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. represented by Mr Reynald Biñas, Hon. Imee Joy T. Gonzales, Municipal Mayor of Tantangan, Ms Emelita Miguel from the Office of the City Agriculturist of Koronadal City, Dr. Candido B. Damo, Consultant for the National Corn Program and Directorates coming from various RTCs.
The corn specialist training course started last August 15, 2022 until December 13, 2022 which aims to increase production of quality corn as well as empower the farmers and increase their income, thereby improving their quality of life.
Moreover, corn farmers showcased their creativity and talents during their folk media presentation. Afterwards, raffle prizes have been given to lucky winners such as bolo, sickle, garden trowels, sling bags, rechargeable knapsack sprayers, shovels and fertilizers.
