The ATI-RTC XII, through its Coconut Fund and Industry Development Program headed by Center Director Abdul I. Daya-an and Engr. Mokles P. Buisan, concluded the Coconut Specialist Training Course earlier today, March 15, 2023, at Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA-ZRC), San Ramon, Zamboanga City.
This group, composed of 21 Coconut Specialists coming from the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-tawi, is the pioneering batch to undergo and complete the various lectures and hands-on activities from seed nut selection to coconut harvesting and processing to its economics.
The Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund (CFITF) Act or known as Republic Act 11524 is promulgated to provide development and invigoration of the coconut industry, improve coconut farm productivity and increase the income of our country’s small coconut farmers. As part of this law, Coconut Specialist Training Course is conducted to provide coconut farmers and extension workers knowledge on the benefits and services under the program.
PCA ZRC Division Chief Gerardo Baylon, PCA Tawi-Tawi Division Chief Nur-Aina Ingkagan, PCA-ZRC Science Specialist Jessiemar Cabasag, and Administrative Officer Ms Sheryl Lee were present during the graduation ceremony.
