A total of 25 farmers from Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi completed the Training on Native Chicken Production and Management last August 29-31, 2023 at Barangay Malacca.

The training was conducted by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office XII, through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) XII and the Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Office (PAFO) of Tawi-Tawi.

MAFAR-Tawi-Tawi livestock coordinator Richard Jaafar, MAFAR-Bongao MMO Engr. Nurphy Ayub, and MAFAR-Tawi-Tawi Supervising Agriculturist Al-Rashid Abdul served as resource persons for the 3-day training.

The training covered a wide range of topics, including native chicken breeds and their characteristics, housing and management, feeding and nutrition, disease prevention and control, and marketing and product development.

The participants also had the opportunity to have hands-on experience in managing native chickens through a field practicum.

The training is expected to help the farmers improve their production of native chickens and increase their income.

ATI XII team visits MAFAR-Tawi-Tawi Provincial Director

Moreover, the ATI XII team had a courtesy call visit with MAFAR-Tawi-Tawi Provincial Director Aidarus I. Nami, Ed.D. CFIDP activities and programs in the province were tackled for a more harmonious implementation.

The visit was an opportunity for the ATI XII team to discuss with Director Nami their plans and programs for the province, and to seek his support in implementing these programs.

Director Nami welcomed the ATI XII team and expressed his support for their programs. He said that the DA is committed to helping the farmers of Tawi-Tawi improve their production and income.

The ATI XII team is confident that their programs will be successful in Tawi-Tawi, with the support of Director Nami and the MAFAR-Tawi-Tawi Provincial Office.
