Kabacan, Cotabato - A training aimed at improving skills in large animal artificial insemination took place from August 7 to 18, 2023, at the ATI-Satellite Training Center in USM, Kabacan. The event brought together 18 carefully selected AI Technicians from Regions XII and BARMM.
The training was a joint effort by the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute XII and the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC-12). Its main goal was to provide technicians with the latest knowledge and practical experience in artificial insemination for large animals.
Participants learned about best practices in artificial insemination, got hands-on experience in techniques like ovarian palpation and ultrasonography, learned how to handle and process seminal fluid, assess body condition, and manage the overall health of large animals.
Dr. Edwin C. Atabay from the PCC's Central Office Operation Division shared his knowledge during the training. Also, experts from PCC-USM Kabacan, such as Center Director Benjamin John S. Basilio, AI Coordinator Mr. Jeffrey A. Rabanal, and Dr. Virgilio V. Lopez, contributed to the training.
This training equipped AI Technicians with updated methods and practical insights, improving their ability to contribute to artificial insemination for large animals. The effort reflects the dedication of PCC XII and its partners to raise the standards of artificial insemination practices in the region.
