From July 29 to 31, 2024, DA-ATI RTC XII, through its Corn Program led by Ms. Alma G. Camales, DMO II, conducted a transformative 3-day Training on Production, Management, and Post-Harvest Handling of Glutinous Corn. Held at the Municipal Agriculture Office in Antipas, Cotabato Province, the training focused on improving participants’ skills in corn production with an emphasis on gender inclusion.
The training brought together key resource speakers, including Ms. Nenita E. Olera, Senior Science Research Specialist from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Mr. Junmar C. Gonzales, Population Program Officer II from PGO Cotabato, and Ms. Rosalyn P. Espenorio. The sessions equipped the 30 participants with valuable insights into corn production techniques, gender-responsive practices, and post-harvest handling methods.
Participants also visited the University of Southern Mindanao’s Agricultural Research and Development Center (USMARDC) to learn about innovative corn breeding technologies and observe state-of-the-art post-harvest machinery.
The program concluded with a closing ceremony where Ms. Alma G. Camales and Ms. Helen T. Verdeblanco, Municipal Agriculturist of Antipas, awarded Certificates of Completion to the participants, underscoring the successful acquisition of knowledge and skills to enhance local corn production.
