The Agricultural Training Institute’s Season-Long Training of Trainers (TOT) on Integrated Crop Management for Corn began on July 15, 2024, and will continue until November 25, 2024, at ALC Hall in Barangay San Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato. This extensive program is designed for 25 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from Region 12 and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to equip them with advanced skills for supporting corn farmers locally.
The training’s opening session included registration and an afternoon program led by Ms. Gladys Hazel E. Cafe, a technical staff member for the corn program, who began the proceedings with a prayer and the National Anthem. Training Specialist III, Ms. Simona P. Dela Cruz, welcomed participants with an inspiring message, followed by introductions. Ms. Ma. Theresa B. Laxamana, Media Production Specialist II, presented an overview of the training goals and facilitated a session for participants to express their expectations. Additionally, Mr. Jim Raborar, Dormitory Manager II, introduced the house rules. Day one wrapped up with a practical exam and a planning session for the following day.
This Season-Long TOT aims to train AEWs in crucial technologies and communication techniques needed to effectively implement Integrated Crop Management for Corn within their communities, boosting corn yields and supporting sustainable agriculture practices across the region.
