The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), under the Coconut Farmers Industry Program (CFIDP), in collaboration with the Philippine Cacao Industry Council (PCIC) and the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), has commenced the Batch 3 of the Training on Cacao Production, Post Harvesting, and Coconut-Cacao Intercropping. The training started on October 2, 2023, at the ATI Satellite Training Center XII, USM Compound Kabacan, Cotabato.

Representing ATI National Director IV Engr. Remelyn R. Recoter, Ms. Rei D. Bautista, Project Development Officer II, extended her support and encouragement to all the participants. Dr. Edward A. Barlaan, a Professor Emeritus from USM, warmly welcomed the participants, emphasizing the pivotal role of this training in shaping the future of cacao farming. Additionally, Ms. Rachel S. Remetio, the City Director of DTI Davao City Field Office, delivered a message of support, urging participants to strive for high-quality cacao bean production.

Furthermore, Mr. Ruben T. Tacadao, Division Chief of the Philippine Coconut Authority Cotabato Province, provided a concise overview of CFIDP. This collaborative initiative aims to empower farmers with the knowledge and skills required to excel in cacao production and intercropping techniques, ultimately contributing to the growth and sustainability of the Philippine Agricultural Sector.

The intensive 5-day training program, benefiting 30 Cacao farmer-beneficiaries identified by PCIC and concluded on October 06, 2023.
