After a rigorous selection process at the Provincial, Regional, and National levels – involving oral and written exams, field validation, medical checks, and a national desk evaluation, 23 outstanding young farmers across the country have been chosen to join the Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan (YFFLTPJ) Batch 2024!

A virtual orientation was held last January 8, 2024 for the interns to know more about the program, the roles and responsibilities of the interns and the schedule of activities.

In Region12, five (5) qualified interns and one (1) waitlisted joined the virtual orientation along with 4-H/RBO Focal Person and Training Specialist II May A. Guiang and 4-H/RBO Alternate Focal Person for BARMM and Information Officer II Mr. John Lord L. Auman.

The qualified interns are now set to embark on the next phase: the Pre-Departure Orientation Course (PDOC). During the PDOC, these future agricultural leaders will undergo holistic training, covering Agriculture, Nihongo Language classes, and Mental Health Awareness.

This preparation is crucial before they kick off their 11-month internship journey in Japan starting April 2024. The YFFLTPJ stands as a commitment from the Japanese government to ASEAN regions through the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC) and Japan Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). It aims to provide deserving young farmers with opportunities to enhance their agricultural knowledge and skills, fostering social development and the exchange of cultures.
