TANTANGAN, South Cotabato – From October 14-18, 2024, the ATI-RTC XII through its National Livestock Program hosted a training on Udderly Awesome Dairy: Cattle Milk and Milk Product Processing with Value Adding in partnership with the National Dairy Authority - Southern Mindanao Division (NDA-SMD) at the 4H Hub, ATI-RTC XII, San Felipe, this town. 

LGU technicians and Learning Site for Agriculture cooperators from Region XII and BARMM came together for this 5-day training to enhance their practical skills in milk processing and value adding.

Resource speakers included Greg Lapura, Project Development Officer II of NDA-SMD, who covered Lessons 1-3 on the Status of the Dairy Cattle Industry in the Philippines, Housing & Facilities, and Cattle Production Technology. 

Dr. Constantino Besana, Vet. II of NDA-SMD, discussed the significance of Dairy Health Management. Additionally, Ms. Raffa-Ella Mae Onggo, Quality Assurance Officer of NDA-SMD, provided insights on Basic Dairy Safety Regulations, as well as Dairy Milk Processing & Value Adding.

Participants had hands-on experience making milk bars, pastillas, dulce de leche, and cheese in oil. They also visited the UNIFIED Dairy Farm in Polomolok, South Cotabato, an ATI Accredited Learning Site for Agriculture.
