The DA ATI-RTC XII would like to congratulate Engr. Mokles P. Buisan and Engr. Teofilo T. Jumawan for successfully completing the Coconut Specialist Training and garnering the Top 2 and Best Presenter awards, respectively.

The Coconut Specialist Training is one among the numerous national and regional level training, under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) to provide various stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills for coconut production across the value chain. CFIDP was created to establish goals, policies, and mechanisms for increased income, poverty alleviation, and social equity for marginalized coconut farmers.

Topics discussed include the Coconut Industry Situationer,  Overview of the CFIDP, Transformational Leadership and Social Preparation, Coconut Physiology, The Coconut Palm: Morphology, Growth Stages of Coconut, Coconut Varieties, Seednut Selection, Nursery Establishment, Estimating Coconut Age and Productivity, Coconut Farm Establishment, Coconut-based Farming System, Coconut Disease Management, Farm Maintenance and practical activities on fertilizer application, soil sampling, leaf sampling, farm establishment and estimating coconut age and productivity.

The 12-day training was held at Philippine Coconut Authority-Davao Research Center and was facilitated by PCA Region XI, ATI-Central Office and ATI-Region XI.
