DAUIS, Bohol – The "Excellence Across Regions: Techno Gabay Program Year-End Review and Experiential-based Learning Activity" commenced with an enthusiastic gathering of 23 Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center Managers and staff from Region XII and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The event aims to strengthen FITS centers' roles in delivering agricultural knowledge and support to farmers in their respective regions.
On the first day, the participants visited Egay’s Hidden Cove, an agricultural and eco-tourism farm in Dauis, Bohol, known for its cutting-edge farming techniques and sustainable agricultural practices. This Learning Site for Agriculture serves as a model for diversified farming, integrating crop production and livestock management in ways that balance productivity with ecological conservation.
As an accredited Extension Service Provider of ATI-Central Visayas, Egay’s Hidden Cove welcomed the participants with a tour that highlighted the farm’s sustainable techniques. They explored methods such as organic farming practices, water resource optimization, and strategic crop diversification. These practices not only promote high yields but also prioritize environmental stewardship.
The visit provided FITS managers and staff with hands-on insights into the benefits of diversified farming and sustainable practices, equipping them with ideas and strategies to enhance agricultural services in their regions. This year-end review and learning activity underscores the Techno Gabay Program’s commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture across the Philippines.
